For Children

NEW: Mothers Network Wellington is setting up their first ever group for the mothers of transgender children (particularly those under the age of 10). They will meet up for six weeks every Tuesday, from the 14th of May 2016, to share experiences & to support each other. Check out the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/543496455821429/

If you are a parent looking for support for your young child (before high school), unfortunately there aren't a lot of resources or groups out there for the parents or the children yet.

Even Tranzform is still a fairly new group and run entirely by volunteers.

However, we can suggest the following groups or resources:
  • School's Out for children at high school
  • OUTline may be a starting place for support for parents, and to contact other parents
  • Kapiti Youth Service is starting up (2016) a parent support group in Paraparaumu
  • Mothers Network Wellington is about to start up their first support group for mothers of transgender children
  • Have you considered starting up a group yourself?
  • Other groups and resources may be available through the I'm Local project

If you know of any other groups or services that may help parents, please let us know.
